Verbox is the culmination of more than a decade of passion for sound and craft. Founded and owned by Thomas Thomson, a Melbourne–based sound engineer, the company traces its roots back to 2012 when Tom launched TomTom Recordings, mixing live gigs and producing projects across the city.
By 2017, Tom’s relentless quest for the “perfect‑sounding room” revealed a gap in the market: high‑performance acoustic treatment that didn’t cost a fortune. With few affordable options available, he rolled up his sleeves and built his own panels—quickly attracting attention from fellow engineers and musicians.

What began as TomTom Acoustics—selling panels out of various sheds and via Facebook Marketplace—the business grew by word of mouth throughout Melbourne’s audio scene. The steady momentum led to the next evolution: Verbox, a professionally branded manufacturer with the same grassroots spirit.
